I've spent the week noodling around getting the details right, and playing with background ideas, the three finalists are dark, tonal, and light. Usually one jumps out and says 'pick me!', but that's not happening this time. Feel free to vote/comment. I'll be getting the background in this week hopefully, so let me know what you think.
The dark is a classic background, very moody. Ofttimes used by Caravaggio, one of the greatest painters of all time. The red or tonal background is warm and emphasizes the highlights on her face which are a contrasting cool colour. The light background is a similar cool colour to the highlights, and emphasizes her eyes. I think I'm leaning toward the light background but, then again.....
Usually the background is one of the last things I do, but not this time, I need to have a base background in so I can gage the rest of my skin tones, so there is quite a ways to go yet, the hand in particular is barely begun. I'll keep you posted. R
