How to mount a painting in a floating frame

How to mount a painting in a floating frame: (1) Small 'L' brackets are available at most hardware stores, but being the environmentalist/recycler that I am (also cheap) for smaller pieces I cut old metal mini blind slats into 1 1/2 inch pieces. Use a hammer and nail to start holes for the screws.(2) screw the pieces to the frames at intervals of no more that 12 inches, once screwed in, bend to form 'L' shape. (3) Place painting into frame, using spacers to keep it positioned properly - there is usually approximately 1/4 inch space around the painting. (4) Screw the bent bracket to the cradle or stretcher of the painting. note: in the illustration the painting isn't cradled all the way around. Some times for small pieces I just support the corners. You must provide a full cradle for any painting bigger that 8x10. (5) Cover the back with brown paper (parcel paper), and attach 'D' rings and wire.

I'm the kind of person who gets more done if she has a routine. Over the last few months the routine has evolved to: 1st hour house/garden puttering, 2nd hour e:mail and other on line business, the rest of the day in studio work. Or at lest that's the way it's supposed to work. Fact is I'm lucky of that happens 3 times a week. It seems that there is always a interview/meeting to go to, a gallery to schlep things to/from, a job that needs doing for an up coming show..... the list goes on. I'm getting more than a little frustrated by all of this running, sigh. All of the beautiful art I'm supposed to be creating is still crammed inside my head, instead of out in the world.

This week Hubby Dear was on holidays. We got a lot of work done in the garden, and I've been able to take some great photo's of the robins, cedar wax wings and other birds as they strip the fruit off of my cherry trees, and of the butterflies, bees and other pollinators at work, but again not much art. Do I sound like I'm whining? I feel like I'm whining!

Next week........
